Dr. Brian Seagraves, AWC Clinical Pharmacist

Upon earning his PharmD from the University of Georgia’s College of Pharmacy in 2004, Dr. Seagraves practiced as a nuclear pharmacist for Athens Isotopes. He then became the pharmacist in charge of Athens Custom Meds from 2004 to 2006. In 2006, Dr. Seagraves joined Pharmaceutical Specialties in Athens as Senior Clinical Pharmacist.

Dr. Seagraves has served as a preceptor for UGA, PCOM and South University and was awarded the UGA College of Pharmacy APPE Preceptor of the Year in 2010-2011 and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine College of Pharmacy APPE Preceptor of the Year in 2014-2015.

Dr. Seagraves has served as a volunteer staff pharmacist at Mercy Health Center in Athens and became director of their Viral Hepatitis Clinic in 2010. During his tenure at Mercy, he was awarded Mercy Health Center’s Volunteer of the Year (2011), Mercy Health Center’s Best Professional Volunteer (2015), Healthcare Georgia Foundation’s Joseph D. Greene Community Service award (2016) and Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Community Service Award (2019).

In 2015, Dr. Seagraves joined Athens Wellness Clinic as a volunteer medical provider. In 2016, he developed and spearheaded the Clinic’s HCV Treatment Program. Currently, Dr. Seagraves oversees a multi-disciplinary team at the Clinic for treating viral hepatitis and frequently takes teams into the community to test for hepatitis C.

Dr. Seagraves received the UGA College of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award in 2020. In 2022, he received the Athens-Clarke County Democratic Committee Humanitarian Award and in 2023, he received the 33rd Annual Emancipation Proclamation Pioneer Award.

Dr. Seagraves is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD), the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists (GSHP), the Georgia Pharmacist Association (GPhA) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).

Dr. Seagraves currently serves as faculty member of UGA’s College of Pharmacy in the Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy department.
